# Create a static workspace group

> This guide explains the two ways to create a static workspace group and add devices to it: from Workspace groups or directly from the Workspaces list.

A static workspace group lets you manually group a set of devices. Unlike dynamic groups, devices are not added or removed automatically: they remain in the group until they are removed manually.

There are two ways to create a static group and add devices to it.

## Option 1: from Workspace groups

1. Go to **Workspaces** → **Workspace groups**.
2. Click **New**.
3. Fill in the form and click **Save**.

The group is created empty. To add devices to it:

1. Go to the group's detail view.
2. Select the **Workspaces** tab.
3. Add devices in one of these two ways:
   * **Import devices.** Lets you import up to 20,000 devices using a form.
   * **Edit.** Lets you manually select the organization's devices you want to include in the group.

## Option 2: from the Workspaces list

This option lets you create the group and add devices to it in a single step, starting from a selection already made in the **Workspaces** list.

1. Go to **Workspaces** → **Workspaces**.
2. Select the devices you want to include in the group:
   * Manually, by checking each device in the table.
   * Or by first filtering the list until only the desired set of devices is visible and selecting them all.
3. In the top action bar, click **Device groups**.
4. Select **Static groups**.
5. Create a new group or select an existing one to add the selected devices to.

<Info>
  This same option in the **Device groups** menu also lets you edit an existing static group by adding or removing devices from the current selection.
</Info>
